As a makeup artist my clients always ask me what my top tips are for make-up and skin, I usually keep them entertained with my answers for the entire time I’m working on their faces…but I started thinking how could I break this down in 3 easy tips so as not to bore them or you…let’s begin…
1. It’s no secret that my favorite color is Red. Wearing red lipstick is the simplest way to achieve a high end fashion look, PLUS red lips NEVER go out of fashion, it’s a classic and timeless look.
Choosing the right shade of red…welllll that’s a “practice makes perfect” situation, but it’s the way to distinguish classy from trashy! You may not get the shade right the first time, but don’t give up, shop around until you find the right red for your complexion, plus if all else fails, I’ve compiled a simple method for choosing the right red…
- Very Pale Skin Tones; think of Nicole Kidman…she pulls it off with shades that are lighter and have pink undertones for that instant Hollywood Glamour look!
- Light to Medium Skin Tones; think of Selma Hayek wearing red and if you’re in this skin complexion then you’re lucky because you can pull off a true fire engine red to look classic and beautiful through the day or night! Lucky you!!!
- Darker to Bronze Skin Tones; I don’t know who’s a good enough example to compare to BUT go with a deep red shade with burgundy undertones. This will give the look a sultry and sexy feel!
…see…easy!
2. Avoid using heavy makeup on a daily basis, if you don’t have “good” skin then please seek help through a professional dermatologist and treat your skin!! The skin we look after in our twenties, is the skin we’ll inherit in our forties!
3. Unless you live in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory or New Jersey (I kid, I kid) oompa loompa’s are NOT fashionable, so take your time and get the right advice about finding a foundation that matches your skin and don’t over kill the bronzer…it just looks dirty.
